Professional Information
Dr. Leyla Pordeli is an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Director of Online Programs in the Keigwin School of Nursing within the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences at Jacksonville University.
She holds a BSN from Azad University, an MSN and MBA from Jacksonville University, a post-graduate certificate in Nursing Informatics, and a DNP from Jacksonville University.
Dr. Pordeli joined Jacksonville University as an adjunct in 2009. She is a dedicated educator and clinician with over 15 years of experience in teaching Health Information Management and Nursing Leadership. A board-certified informatics nurse through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), she brings a robust blend of academic and practical expertise, informed by her work as an Informaticist, an active member of the American Nursing Informatics Association, HIMSS, and the Nursing Knowledge Big Data Science Workgroups. Her scholarly pursuits center on the intersections of clinical informatics, health information systems, and competency development within nursing informatics.
A strong advocate for informatics proficiency among nursing professionals, Dr. Pordeli completed her DNP project on competency-based assessment and evaluation, identifying informatics competency gaps among practicing nurse informaticists. Her research supports the enhancement of informatics skills essential to advancing healthcare quality and operational efficiency. Additionally, Dr. Pordeli continues to mentor and guide next generation of nurse informaticists and health leaders, sharing her insights on the critical impact of informatics in shaping data-driven patient care, transforming healthcare delivery and outcomes.
