Currently, opioid overdoses are the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 50. Our civilian and military community is experiencing a drug crisis of epidemic proportion. Tonight we have gathered the region’s top substance abuse experts to describe outreach, prevention, and treatment so that you can use this information and make a difference. Too many lives have already been lost. Too many families have shed tears of suffering. Now is the time for all of us to advocate, for our patients’ sake.

Jeff Mangrum
Jeff joined Cornerstone of Recovery in January of 2016. As a Director of National Accounts, he works with EAPs, Unions, Ed Consultants, Human Resource Professionals, Payers and other referral sources focused on getting help for their troubled employees, members and clients.
He brings over 30 years of experience to Cornerstone, in the addiction and recovery field. He founded Sane and Sober Theatre in 1987, a theatre-based learning and development company whose mission is to raise awareness of disease model of addiction. In 2008 he became National Strategic Accounts Director for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation where he served for 8 years before transitioning to manage a business development team at Pasadena Villa, a primary psychiatric treatment facility.
Mangrum is a national speaker and playwright who has had 5 full-length plays produced, his most recent, Wendall Greene, was mounted by the renowned Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago and was nominated for best new play by the American Theatre Critics Association.

COL Michael Sorna, MD
Colonel Sorna is board certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. He is the commanding officer of the 7201st MSU and serves as Chief of the Mental Health Clinics Jacksonville for the Department of Veteran Affairs. He attended medical school at the University of Colorado and completed residency and fellowship at Emory University. He has over 20 years of military service including 15 years active duty with the Navy. He is a designated Naval Aviator (pilot) and Fleet Marine Force Qualified Officer (FMFQO). He has served in the Army Reserves since 2010. He has combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Kosovo. He has been married for 20 years and has four children and two grandchildren. He enjoys bicycling, firearms, amateur radio, and sailing.

Raymond Pomm, MD
Dr. Pomm is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He is also a Certified Medical review Officer. Dr. Pomm served on the Governor’s commission on Mental Health and Substance Abuse. In 1992 he began working for the Impaired Professionals Program of the State of Florida, the Professionals Resource Program (PRN). From 1998 until 2011 he served as Medical Director for this organization. PRN serves 29 Healthcare Boards and councils on matters relating to healthcare professionals’ impairment. Also, from 1994 until 2010 Dr. Pomm was an expert Consultant to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Dr. Pomm began working with River Region Human Services in 1992, became their Medical Director in 1994 and currently serves as Vice President of Medical Services. In addition, Dr. Pomm serves as Medical Director for Gateway Community Services. He also is a Courtesy Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. He has been a leader in the addiction field as it relates to the evaluation and treatment of co-occurring disorders and management of impaired professionals. Dr. Pomm has received multiple awards, including “The Marie Award” from the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence. He is an International speaker and has written multiple publications on issues surrounding addiction as well as healthcare professional impairment.

Terrie Andrews, Ph.D.
Terrie Andrews, PhD, is the Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health at Baptist Health. Dr. Andrews is a licensed clinical psychologist with a strong background in business operations and development. She has worked at Baptist since 2013 and has been instrumental in expanding consultative services at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, in addition to providing psychological testing and psychotherapy services to children and adults. In her current role she provides leadership and oversight in clinical, operational, financial, and strategic planning in Northeast Florida’s largest healthcare system.
Dr. Andrews received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology along with her Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She also earned her Master of Science (M.S.) in Psychology and a Specialist in Psychology (Psy.S.) from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Andrews's professional affiliations include Florida Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.

Daniel Renaud, BS, CAP, ICADC
Dan Renaud BS, CAP, ICADC is a widely acclaimed addiction counselor from Jacksonville, Florida. Addicted to drugs and alcohol as a teenager, Dan’s addiction landed him into endless hopeless situations, and accordingly, his career has been built upon not only an understanding but an identification with his valued patients whose trials and tribulations he has shared and knows well. Just the same as he has been clean for over 30 years, so too does Dan recognize and actively embrace the knowledge that addiction treatment is not a quick fix but a lifelong mission.
Today Dan specializes in adolescent treatment and family crisis intervention, utilizing various individual and group therapy modalities. He is Founder and Executive Director of Florida Recovery Schools (Recovery High School). With a reputation in integrity, Dan Renaud has served on numerous panels, lectured at colleges and schools, and led seminars on addiction in Jacksonville and across the state of Florida.
