IDEA River Bluff celebrates ribbon cutting

June 20, 2023

Students at IDEA River Bluff are ready to move into their recently completed school building, which will enhance the educational opportunities for students in the Arlington neighborhood.

Earlier this month, IDEA Public Schools celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony for the River Bluff campus, marking the end of construction and the beginning of students making it their K-12 home. Executive Vice President of Partnership and Development Dr. Christine Sapienza, a IDEA School board member, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

IDEA Public Schools purchased land immediately south of the Jacksonville University campus in 2021, planning to build the latest addition to its more than 140 K-12 charter schools throughout the country. idea school river bluff

The nationally-ranked, tuition-free public school will serve students all the way through 12th grade in two schools located within the Arlington campus. IDEA Jacksonville will provide technology to every student, free bus transportation and after school programming. IDEA will also house its regional headquarters in the new school building. Over its 16 year history, nearly 100% of its graduates have gone to college.

With the addition of the IDEA River Bluff campus, Arlington is now home to education at the pre-K to doctorate level.

“We are so thrilled to unveil this remarkable addition to IDEA River Bluff and celebrate with our staff, students, and community,” said Simaran Bakshi, IDEA Jacksonville’s newest Executive Director. “This new building embodies our dedication to providing our students with the best possible educational experience. This project exemplifies our commitment to investing in the success of our students and staff in ensuring they have access to advanced facilities and resources.”

The two-story, 81,000-square-foot building comprises classroom space, science labs, a library, cafeteria, gymnasium and office space.
