The Jacksonville University "RIPCURRENT" Marching Band is the flagship musical ensemble for athletic events at Jacksonville University. We would love to have you as member of the 2023-2024 "RIPCURRENT"!
How to Join the "RIPCURRENT" Marching Band
Membership in the Jacksonville University Marching Band is open to all students in any major at JU and is offered as a music ensemble class through the Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts & Humanities (MUS-223 JU Athletic Band). This course can be applied towards a fine arts requirement.
Prior high school marching band experience is not required to join, however prior band or orchestra experience in some capacity is preferred. Students wishing to join colorguard or majorettes should have some prior experience.
Students who attend other local colleges (UNF, FSCJ, and SJRSC) may also join as part of our dual enroll program. Detailed dual enrollment information can be found by visiting the dual enrollment link to the left.
Components include: Hornline, Drumline, Colorguard, Majorettes, and "Dorsal Funk" (the official Rock Band of the JUMB)
No Auditions
There are no auditions to be a member of the JU Marching Band. All students are accepted. A short playing assessment will take place at the beginning of camp to help place you on a part that best fits your abilities and insures that you will have an enjoyable experience.

When you join, you will be sent audition, camp, show and all pertinent information as it becomes available. You may also email us with any questions you may have.
