Job Summary
The Graphic Designer leads high-level design pieces for the University such as WAVE magazine, donor proposals, and Presidents Report. This position requires an expertise in design, project management, and client relationships.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage graphic design student workers and collaborate with designers across campus and freelancers to execute design for new areas such as student life, orientation, student on-boarding, week of welcome, and the student side of homecoming
Duties/Responsibilities
• Design and manage design projects for major publications and reports for the university
including production and finishings
• Serve as a branding expert on campus to review materials and provide assets
• Plan large design production calendars for major events and projects such as Dolphin
Dash, President Report and WAVE Magazine
• Develop and execute a design system for the launch of the capital campaign
• Execute high-quality print and digital graphic work for all areas of campus including
academics, enrollment, advancement, etc., as needed. Projects may include but are
not limited to brand campaigns, flyers, publications, event/conference materials,
socialmedia graphics, programs, advertisements, promotionalmaterials, signage, and
alumni magazines
• Ensure all visual assets adhere to overall university brand standards and best practices
while delivering innovative and quality work. Act as a brand resource for the campus
community.
• Design high impact marketing pieces to recruit undergraduate and graduate students,
solicit contributions from high-level donors, and support presentations by University
administrators.
• Create graphic design templates for groups across campus like corporate proposals,
admission pieces, and event flyers.
• Photography on behalf of the University as assigned.
• Contributing to the University’s digital asset management system and assisting in
the archiving, tagging, and organization of digital files.
• Creating and curating social media content for official University accounts as assigned
(i.e. photography, videography, and copy) to support campaigns for undergraduate and
graduate admissions, and giving.
• Use templates to design marketing webpages and program webpages to support marketing
campaigns. This does not require a coding background because the pages are already
coded; but it does require being comfortable with website editing, visual branding,
and adding keywords through the Moz SEO tool.
• Buy and manage digital advertisements for admissions campaigns including on Facebook,
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Google Advertisements.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a range of personalities
and establish effective relationships at all levels of agency organization
• Ability to manage multiple issues with a capacity to prioritize responsibilities
and manage to deadlines
• Strong interpersonal, communication (including good writing and proofreading skills),
diplomacy, and organizational skills required.
• Proactive and independent approach to work; team player with a strong sense of ownership
needed.
• Demonstrated ability to focus on details with accuracy.
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience
• Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree Required
• Minimum Work Experience: One year of design experience that can include full-time
and internships/education
• Preferred Qualifications: Two years of design experience that can include full-time
and internships/education
Physical Requirements
• Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and scientific equipment
• Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
• Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
