Facilities & Resources
Humanities students have access to several computer labs on the campus, all of which are networked through a fiber optic backbone and offer Internet access. Swisher Library offers students an extensive collection of traditional reference materials, a CD collection, and the interlibrary loan program, which can obtain virtually any book or article in the country within a matter of days. The library also subscribes to various online databases which enable students to obtain up-to-date information on research topics in all fields covered by the Humanities program. JU also has an onsite museum and art gallery (the Alexander Brest Museum and Gallery, located in the Phillips Fine Arts Building). Downtown Jacksonville offers a wealth of cultural amenities including the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville, and the Museum of Science and History (MOSH), as well as major corporate collections such as the collection of Preston Haskell displayed in the Haskell Corporate Offices.
