Job Summary

The Department of Literature, Language, and Culture at Jacksonville University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in English/Humanities with a specialization in modern multiethnic or non-Western literatures and cultures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate training and/or experience in interdisciplinary humanities and/or digital humanities. We especially invite applicants who work in one of the following areas: non- Western literatures and cultures, BIPOC literatures and cultures, or global and post-colonial literatures and cultures. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate experience and interest in teaching first-year composition. The teaching load for this position is eight courses per year on a nine-month contract. The successful candidate will teach core courses and electives at all levels and demonstrate an interest in generalist teaching approaches.

  • Ability to teach a broad range of lower-level and upper-level courses.
  • Ability to incorporate technology into classroom teaching.
  • Ability to work with diverse students and small class sizes.
  • Must participate in college and university service.
  • Conduct research English and/or interdisciplinary humanities.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

  • PhD in English or a related field by the beginning of the appointment
  • The successful candidate must hold a PhD in English or a related field by the beginning of the appointment (August, 2024). This position is contingent upon funding.
