Job Summary

The Department of Sociology at Jacksonville University invites applications for adjunct positions to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of:

  • Introductory Sociology
  • Environmental Sociology
  • Sociology of Leadership and Organizations

In-person or hybrid instruction is preferred; applications for fully online instruction will be considered. 

Duties/Responsibilities

Adjunct faculty members must perform all duties associated with teaching courses at the post-secondary level. These duties include:

  • Providing lecture
  • Leading class discussions
  • Writing exams, grading exams, and providing feedback on any other assignments
  • Providing prompt responses to student questions

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

  • Applicant must possess either a Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Sociology or 18 graduate credit hours earned in Sociology.
