Job Summary

The Jacksonville University Public Policy Institute Assistant Director and Master in Public Policy (MPP) Program Manager is responsible for: (1) The administration of the MPP program; (2) The administration of the Institute’s on campus public policy programs; (3) Oversight of the Institute’s website and social media; (4) Oversight of MPP student recruitment and marketing efforts, and (5) As Assistant Director, works with the Executive Director on all matters related to the Public Policy Institute and its academic, on campus, and community programs.

Duties/Responsibilities

MPP Program - Responsible for the administration of the MPP program, including the MPP degree program, Executive MPP program, three dual degree programs (MPP-JD, MPP-MBA, MPP-Marine Science), and the undergraduate Minor in Public Policy. These responsibilities include:

  • Advising MPP students including scheduling, curriculum, graduation requirements, etc.
  • Support for faculty including scheduling, contracts, evaluations
  • JU PPI Internship Program administration, which includes oversight, coordination, verification, and logistics of internships for JU MPP students (including internship applications, presentations of participating agencies, logistics and data, and student tracking).
  • Capstone project oversight and administration
  • Oversight and administration of the traditional MPP degree program, Executive MPP (EMPP) degree program, three MPP dual degree programs, and the undergraduate Minor in Public Policy
  • Scheduling of classes, Blackboard administration and updating, advise and assist MPP students, orientation program for new students, admissions
  • Coordination with Admissions and the Registrar
  • Archiving and making accessible internship reports and capstone projects
  • Assessment data collection and archiving
  • Oversight, tracking, and managing the Institute’s fundraising data
  • Support for MPP program committees
  • All related Institute and MPP Program logistics, operations, data collection, scheduling, and administrative responsibilities

Administration of On Campus Public Policy Programs – Working with the Institute Executive Administrator, includes responsibility for logistics and operations in hosting Institute events and programs including lectures, conferences, forums, debates, summits, training programs, and board meetings.

Website and Social Media – Website and social media responsibility includes monitoring, reviewing, and updating the Institute website and social media. While the University has a Web Manager and the Institute Executive Administrator has a leading role on the website and social media, the MPP Program Manager will oversee the website and social media and will update basic content, text, and graphics on the website. The MPP Program Manager, along with the Institute Executive Administrator, will also be responsible for JU MPP social media.

Marketing and Recruiting – While the Marketing and Communications Department is responsible for marketing and the Graduate Admissions Office is responsible for recruitment, the MPP Program Manager, in conjunction with the Institute Coordinator, will serve as liaison to each and have significant responsibilities for coordination, development and implementation of JU MPP marketing and MPP student recruitment efforts.

Assistant Director – As Assistant Director, works closely with the Executive Director on all matters relating to the Institute, including curriculum, admissions, fundraising, on-campus programs, and community engagement.

Prerequisites Required for Position:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Administrative and management experience
  • Technology and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suites, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Social media skills
  • Marketing experience a positive
  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Office work required.
  • Must be able to work on computer, draft documents, and communicate effectively
  • Some minimal travel may be needed in working with community organizations and in marketing and recruiting.
