Summer in Barcelona Barcelona School for International Studies

Start your international adventure right after the spring term ends by traveling to Barcelona and participating in the Barcelona School for International Studies May term. At BarcelonaSIS you will be immersed in the city life of Barcelona with a centrally located study center and easy access to top cultural points of interest. You will enjoy small classroom sizes, local cultural activities planned for you, and excursions to cities outside Barcelona downtown. Take your pick between housing in shared apartments or residence halls with other international students or american students studying abroad, or immerse yourself even further with a homestay!

The Barcelona SAE Academic Study Center (SIS) Summer Program gives you the opportunity to take courses in English and/or Spanish that can count towards your major, minor, or general education requirements. The SIS Summer Program includes even more than your average summer, with each term including a day trip, tours, cultural activities, a career development workshop, and a variety of courses to choose from for a wide range of majors.

You’ll enjoy a perfect blend of top-notch academics and experiential learning that include intriguing courses, guest speakers, local tours and excursions. Most electives are taught in English, but students are highly encouraged to enroll in our intensive Spanish Language courses to truly get the most out of the Barcelona experience.

Choose from May, June or July sessions – or a combination of one, two or all three! Each class includes fantastic excursions to tie the city into the classroom.

Courses at Barcelona SIS are taught in English and/or Spanish, and the class sizes are small to provide a personalized experience that allows for individual participation and team projects. Each course includes various field studies that use the city of Barcelona as a classroom, as part of the experiential learning experience offered at this school. Also, final grades will be the result of the combination of lectures, field trips, guest speakers, as well as projects, readings, and presentations that will be prepared by the students outside the classroom. All courses will include a mid-term and a final exam, that will be an important part of the assessment of each class.
