Dr. White is the Founding Executive Director of the Marine Science Research Institute

The mission of the Jacksonville University Marine Science Research Institute (MSRI) is to provide outstanding teaching and high-quality research opportunities for students, faculty and other researches on issues related to the St. John's River and other aquatic environments. The MSRI leads education, research and public awareness outreach programs that aim to improve and promote environmental sustainability through its facilities and operating policies.

At this year's Pioneer Award Celebration on October, 24, 2024, we will be honoring Dr. Quinton White with the surprise announcement of the new Marine Science Endowed Fellowship created in his honor. 

Dr. A. Quinton White is the Founding Executive Director of the Marine Science Research Institute and Professor Emeritus of Biology and Marine Science at Jacksonville University. He joined the faculty at Jacksonville University in 1976 serving in multiple roles during his tenure and has written numerous research and technical reports, received grants and contracts to support marine research at JU, conducted research on many aspects of the Florida environment, especially on the St. Johns River, and was active in establishing the partnership, OCEARCH at JU. Jacksonville University is honored to celebrate Dr. White’s distinguished 48-year career. His legacy will last forever across campus and beyond.
