GenCyber at JUWhat is GenCyber at JU?

It is a week-long camp that introduces campers to the world of cybersecurity.

The camps are open to 6th to 8th-grade students.

  • Meet with cybersecurity professors and industry professionals
  • Learn about cybersecurity careers
  • Make new friends and have fun!
  • Spend a week at Jacksonville University and be a college student for one week

Summer Camps for Middle School Students

Who Should Participate

The camp is open for middle school students, 6th-8th graders. No prior cybersecurity knowledge is required.

After submitting the initial application, students will be required to disclose identifying information, parent / guardian information, school counselor information, and current GPA. Students must be either Permanent Residents or US citizens to be accepted into the program.

Where & When

The GenCyber camps will be hosted in the STEAM Institute at Jacksonville University.

Two camps are offered:

  • Camp #1: June 16 – June 20
  • Camp #2: June 23 – June 27

Cost & Registration

The camp is free thanks to grant funding from the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

40 middle school students will have the opportunity to participate and take home a Raspberry Pi kit. Lunch and dinner will be provided for all campers for free.
