The TRiO Student Support Services program is funded by the United States Department of Education. This program, along with six other access programs, comprise the Federal TRiO programs, all designed to help students obtain degrees from baccalaureate to doctoral. The SSS program was initially authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act in 1968.

The purpose of our program is to guide students through academic, cultural and social/ recreational experiences as they seek to reach their educational goals, prepare for relevant career opportunities and other life goals, in preparation for assuming leadership roles in our global society. We promote cultural awareness and student engagement activities, while enhancing academic skills and maintaining a warm supportive environment. All of our efforts are geared toward increasing university retention and graduation rates for eligible participants.
