2012 Open Enrollment Memo
To: Full-time Faculty and Staff
From: George C. Scaduto
Vice President for Finance and Administration
As you know the University renews our benefit programs at this time every year. Over the past year we experienced a moderate year in claims. I am very pleased to announce that rates for our medical, dental and vision plans will not increase in 2012.
I am also pleased to report we will continue to offer the current three medical plan choices: PPO, HMO, and the High Deductible PPO. There will be no change in the plan design, thereby keeping your hospital and physician co-pays and deductibles the same for 2012.
A complete description of rates by plan can be located by clicking on this link:
For those individuals who have employee only coverage the monthly cost for the HMO plan will remain at $37.00 and the rate for those covered by the PPO plan will remain at $98.00. Please remember we also offer the PPO High Deductible Plan which is at no cost for employee only coverage. We suggest you compare premium cost by plan to minimize or in some cases even reduce your current cost.
The total cost to JU for our medical plan next year will be approximately $2,900,000, with the University paying on average $6,100 per year on behalf of each employee.
We will continue the popular Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and the Health Saving Account (HSA). There will be no change in our dental or vision plan design. We will also offer several voluntary supplemental plans (critical illness, cancer, term life) through Allstate Insurance Company.
We will sponsor an Information Session on Wednesday, October 19st in the Reid Science Auditorium at 1:30pm to answer any questions you may have. If you cannot attend these sessions you will have the opportunity to ask questions during Open Enrollment to be held on October 26th and 27th from 10:00am to 3:00pm on the 2nd floor of the Howard Administration Building.
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Human Resources at extension 7025.
