Description

Jacksonville University invites applications for an adjunct Computing Science faculty position.

Responsibilities

Teach one to two introductory Computing Science service courses (CS 150 - Personal Productivity Using Technology) beginning August 2014.  Course introduces current social / ethical issues, Microsoft Office 2013 applications, and the latest computer concepts with an emphasis on preparing students to apply computer and technology skills in their own field of study.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

·        Earned Masters from an accredited institution in the discipline
·        18 graduate hours in the discipline
·        Willingness to work daytime and /or evening hours
·        Willingness to teach online sections of the course
·        Technologically savvy individuals who can incorporate new, cutting edge topics into the class preferred
·        Prior experience with distance learning would be beneficial

Special Skills:
·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·        Critical thinking
·        Problem solving
·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Work Conditions:
Work is normally performed in typical office and classroom environments, however some sections may be taught online.
 
Physical Requirements:
·        Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
·        Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
·        Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
