Catherine 'Catie' Carter Nursing Scholarship - The Jimmy Carter family and JU have established a scholarship to encourage new nurses like the ones who cared for Catie before she lost her battle with young life to Cancer.
Scholarship recipients shall be selected from an applicant pool, with priority given to those applicants who are:
a. practicing nurses at Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital pursuing a BSN, [first priority]
b. practicing nurses at Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital pursuing an MSN, [second priority] and
c. other highly qualified nursing applicants specializing in pediatric nursing. [third priority]

The PGA Tour Scholarship in Honor of Billy Walker - $2,000 for five students from the five county area around Jacksonville. Reciopients must be employed to assist in financing their education and must be trying to make a difference in their community.
2012-2013 Northeast Florida Association of Environmental Professionals (NEFAEP) Science Scholarship at Jacksonville University was established by the NEFAEP Chapter as part of the their community and outreach program. Its purpose is to aid and encourage capable students in pursuing professional careers within any science field studied at JU. It is awarded annually and is open to rising juniors or seniors, and can be applied towards tuition to cover a science related class or as a grant for environmentally-related research. The award amount varies with endowment earnings and may vary between is $500 and $1,00 per year.

Awards will be announced at the Division/COAS Honors Convocation, or other public venue, in the spring. Current Outside Scholarship Opportunities
This scholarship fund was established in response to federal cuts in spending for education programs and scholarships. This is the foundation's first educational program. The CBC Spouses Education scholarship is a national program that awards scholarships to academically talented and highly motivated students who intend to pursue full-time undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degrees. The Educational Scholarship Fund was established in 1988 and has experienced substantial growth. Recipients for this program are selected through volunteers in the district offices of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). CBC Members work through local scholarship committees to award money to academically talented and highly motivated students.
Eligibility
- Be preparing to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree full-time or be a current full-time student in good academic standing at an accredited college or university
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Exhibit leadership ability and participate in community service activities
This scholarship program focusing on health was established in 1998 as the CBC partnered with the naming sponsor, General Mills, to increase the number of minority students pursuing degrees in the fields of medicine, engineering, technology, nutrition and other health-related professions. Since the inception of the program, General Mills has invested more than $1,000,000 to underwrite this initiative. The General Mills Health Scholarship has served hundreds of students over the years, and has helped to create leaders in the medical and health related fields.

Florida Sea Grant offers a wide range of scholarship and fellowship opportunities for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students. The Aylesworth Scholarship, for example, will pay a student up to $10K per year for the duration of their degree program and is open to any FL university student working in a marine related field. Joseph A McAlinden Divers' Scholarship - Offered specifically to Navy and Marine Corps Divers and their eligible family members. The McAlinden Scholarship provides financial assistance for full-time undergraduate and graduate students, as well as advanced diver training, certifications, and recertification's. Undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled in a traditional classroom setting, participating in one of the following areas of study: Oceanography, Ocean Agriculture, or Aquaculture. The scholarship is need based, and ranges from $500 up to $3000 per academic year, for the eligible student's education. Scholarships and no-interest loans are available, provided solely on the basis of the applicant's financial need in accordance with policies established by the Society's Board of Directors.

Lillian Junco de la Vega Memorial Scholarship for Men's Lacrosse - This just in! The first Jacksonville University Men's Lacrosse scholarship has been funded to honor the memory of Lillian Junco De La Vega. Mrs. Junco De La Vega was a champion of many charitable community organizations and would be proud to have her name associated with a scholarship to support and honor the scholar athletes at JU. In honor of Mrs. Junco De La Vega we hope this scholarship will enrich the life of the recipient through the educational opportunity at JU; and that in return, they will make the world a better place for those that follow. The award is $1,000 per academic year applied to the student's Jacksonville University account. Recipient shall be a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who is fully accepted into the Davis College of Business AND a member of the Men's Lacrosse team. April 1 deadline.
Sodexo Spirit of JU Scholarship - JU's Sodexo food service seeks to reward a JU student who makes a difference during their time on campus. The student should be involved in campus activities. Applicants who serve in student government, intramural or team sports, Dolphin Productions, The Navigator or other organizations and clubs will be given particular attention. Satisfactory academic progress is a requirement for selection. The winning student should have a clear goal for the future and extra points will be awarded to students who plan for giving back to JU. The Scholarship will be a $5,000 award to the student who best represents great JU spirit as determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee based on the common scholarship application and essay. Ed Lewis and Neal Boehnke Endowed Science Scholarship Application - initiated at the 2008 Science Reunion to recognize Drs. Ed Lewis and Neal Boehnke for their many years of excellence and service to the University at large and to the hundreds if not thousands of students who participated in their chemistry classes. It is targeted for junior/senior science students with a GPA of at least 3.2 and will be funded at up to $2000 for the 2012-2013 school year. Feb. 27 deadline. Apply today!
The Dr. and Mrs. Herman Harms Endowed Scholarship for Forrest HS Grads - Dr. Harms served 23 years in the US Navy: through World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. The Harms settled in Jacksonville upon his retirement from the Navy in 1963, and Dr. Harms then began his second career: education. He achieved his undergraduate and Masters Degrees from JU and his Doctorate in Education from the University of Florida. He then taught history for many years both here and at Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. The Harms established a scholarship endowment fund at JU to benefit Forrest High School students. Deadline is Feb. 27 and preference goes to NBF HS grads majoring in History.
The Dr. Levis D. McCullers Non-Traditional Student Scholarship - In writing about his education, Dr. McCullers said, "Without a doubt, the most immediately overwhelming feeling brought on by the degree was pure relief that I was finished. Next was the recognition that I had achieved something that could never be lost or taken away. I also proved to myself that I had far more intellectual ability than I had ever demonstrated and knew that if I had applied even one third the same effort in high school I probably could have received a scholarship for college". He has left a legacy of scholarships to his and his children's colleges designed to encourage other adults to go back to school to earn their degrees. Dr. McCullers' family are offering a $1,000 scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year. Eligibility: A working adult in JU's ADP Program, age 25 or older, at least 24 earned credits and 3.0 GPA. 2012-2013 Eddie Harper and Debbie Douglas Memorial Scholarship - Established in memory of the brother and sister of JU alum, Pamela Bushman. It is a $1,000 award. The recipient will be a talented JU student with financial need selected by the University from applications submitted by February 27, 2012. Preference will be given to applicants who are members of Alpha Delta Pi, the sorority Mrs. Bushman supported as a JU student. Deadline is by Feb. 27.
2012-2013 Don Baker Creager Award for Botany Now accepting applications. Award amount varies with endowment earnings and proposed use of award funds; range is $100-500 per year. Applications are reviewed and recipients are determined by a committee of faculty selected from within the JU Division of Science and Mathematics in the Spring semester.

The 2012-2013 Bert L. Thomas Business Scholarship is named after a World War II vet who served in the Quartermaster Corps as Executive Officer under future Winn-Dixie founder, James E Davis. After the war he was hired by JE Davis and eventually became President of Winn-Dixie Stores in 1965. At the time of his death in 1982, he was head of Florida's largest company. He was a member of the JU Board of Trustees for 13 years, serving as treasurer and chairman of the finance committee. Following the values of Bert Thomas, the recipient of this scholarship should be a Business major who has worked to pay a portion of his or her college expenses. Deadline is Feb 27

2012-2013 Richard D. Sanborn Business Scholarship Fund - Richard D. Sanborn was a distinguished attorney, transportation executive, civic leader, and staunch supporter of Americas free enterprise system. He was an active member of the JU Board of Trustees, so his friends established this scholarship to honor him and to perpetuate his memory after his death in 1989. The scholarship has a value up to $2,000.
Eligibility:
- You must be pursuing a major in the College of Business.
- You must be a sophomore or junior at the time of application.
- You must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
