Mission/Purpose

The mission/purpose of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness is to facilitate improvement in effectiveness of the university through strategic planning, assessment, and use of results in decision-making.
 

What is Institutional Effectiveness?

It is the process of improving the university through strategic planning, effective implementation of plans, assessment of results, and using results to improve. It involves ongoing information/data collection, analysis of outcomes, and use of findings to guide decisions and actions. It is a cyclical planning-assessment process that yields annual improvement and refinement in progression towards goals. Institutional effectiveness processes evolve to address institutional changes and incorporate new methodologies. The end goals of this process are fulfillment of the institutional mission and improved student learning.

  • Strategic planning, assessment, and research.
  • Assessment and review of academic and administrative programs.
  • Assessing program and student learning outcomes.
  • Use of the TracDat online planning-assessment system.
  • Development, execution, and analysis of online surveys.
  • Demonstrating compliance with accreditation standards.
 

About OIE

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) is under the supervision of the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. Personnel include the Director of Institutional Effectiveness with the assistance of staff in the Office of Academic Affairs. The OIE office is located on the third floor of the Davis Building.
