If you already hold an Associate of Arts degree from a regionally accredited institution or have completed the Jacksonville University undergradu­ate core curriculum and want to pursue a career in nursing, you have the opportunity to complete your nursing degree in two years with our Transfer Program. The program starts twice a year, May (Application deadline is December 1) and August (Application deadline is April 1).


To apply, you must first submit an undergraduate application to the University office of admissions if you have not already been accepted to Jacksonville University. From there, you must submit the nursing application with supporting materials to the School of Nursing by April 1, including unofficial transcripts and three forms of recommendation, two professional and one personal. You will also have an interview, after which you will be assigned an essay topic. You will be scored on your cumulative GPA, interview, essay, and recommendations.





Admission Requirements:

• A $15 nonrefundable application fee
• An Associate in Arts degree or credit for the entire university undergraduate core curriculum*
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• Complete, prior to enrollment, the following prerequisites*:

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology II
  • A General Chemistry (must include a lab)
  • Microbiology
  • Human Nutrition
  • Human Growth & Development
  • Statistics


*Required courses only if you do not have an AA degree from a regionally accredited institution:

  • Introductory Writing
  • Personal Productivity Using Technology
  • Principles of Macroeconomics
  • World Literature
  • The Modern World
  • Introduction to Philosophy
  • Any Humanities
  • Any Fine Art
  • International Studies
  • Social Science (one of the following) 
    • World Geography
    • American Government & Politics
    • International Politics
    • Introductory Psychology
    • Introductory Sociology (preferred)
